HOME SHARING AS WE KNOW IT IS AT RISK...

Changing with the Times

Think about the best experiences you’ve had in the past year…whether it’s a family trip, wedding, group getaway or escape with a loved one, odds are it involved a vacation rental. But at the same time, Airbnb and similar services are under attack in the mainstream media and short-term rentals are at significant risk of becoming a thing of the past.

At City Escapes, we believe that with proper management and respect from both hosts and guests, that home sharing can be a sustainable and beneficial part of the local community. To ensure that, we support the below principles:

Our Principles

  • Being a Good Neighbor

We engage in dialogue with all of our neighbors and employ technology to detect issues before they happen, all while respecting the privacy of our guests.

  • Creating Jobs & Economic Activity

We employ local hardworking families for our cleaning service and pay them a fair wage, they become part of the City Escapes family. We also support local businesses such as contractors, caterers, and more, bringing a net positive impact to the area.

  • “Regulate, not ban” Approach

Many cities and localities have passed restrictive short-term rental bans, often politically influenced by hotel lobbying groups. We believe that with responsible hosting, constructive dialogue, and reasonable regulation, short-term rentals can help local communities thrive.

The Future of Home-Sharing

The future of home-sharing and short-term rentals is in all of our hands; stop the spread of misinformation and support the community. We actively support grassroots organizations like Share Jewett that connect hosts, policymakers, and the local community to engage in productive dialogue. If you are interested in discussing the future of short-term rentals, we are always open to ideas, please contact us.
