How City Escapes Began
IT ALL STARTED WHEN...
In Business from the Beginning
Childhood friends Dan and Chris started a club called “BAM: Business and Money” freshman year of high school. They didn’t know the purpose of the club and were the only members, but did know that eventually, they would start a company together, one day.
Fast forward nearly fifteen years, and those same ambitious creative kids found themselves as best friends and roommates in New York City, finally now have the resources and direction to start something real. As frequent travelers, they often spent winter weekends skiing in Hunter Mountain and summer weekends on the Jersey Shore renting homes. Dan was an Airbnb expert with a passion for hosting, and Chris could build or fix anything with enough time and Youtube videos. They shifted their business focus into real estate with the concept of opening a series of unique vacation homes within the greater NYC area that would fit their families, friends, and prospective renters.
In November 2017, they purchased Big Timber Lodge in Hunter, NY, and launched their first Airbnb page. After finding some initial success, they purchased Asbury Bungalow in January 2019, expanding their offering. The partners have always wanted to push the outer limits of Northeast travel experiences, in 2022 they customized the first City Escapes Adventure Van and developed a series of trails which they plan to grow in the years to come. Finally, in early 2023 they are entering the luxury market as Resort 56 launches for monthly rentals on the Jersey Coastline.
Five years in, they are most proud on the impact they've made on their guests lives, hosting weddings, family reunions and memorable experiences for old friends and new. Both Dan and Chris have full time careers in the tech space and also dedicate time to host charitable events for Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
They are always open to discussing ideas, feedback, and partnerships. Feel free to contact Chris and Dan at info@city-escapes.com
